Nailblazer || Wedding Nails

Yesterday one of my closest friend’s got married – the first of my group of girls to get hitched. I’m sure we’ve all been to weddings before, but when it’s the wedding of someone you’re very close to it’s such a surreal, emotional and wonderful experience!

My nails

On Friday I did the above design to match my outfit, very pleased that I was putting my multitude of polishes to good use so I could actually get pretty darn close to the pattern on my dress! 🙂

Dress – Razan Dress from Monsoon
Shoes – Fancy Free in Natural, from Irregular Choice
Bag – Cut Out Glitter Clutch from New Look @ Asos

To achieve this mani, I painted a two coats of Nails Inc Bourne Street, a mini from their recent 15 Years of Colour Collection. Once dry, I stamped the swirls using MoYou Mother Nature 01 and OPI You’re So Vain-illa.

I managed to get through the day (up until about 11pm!) without chipping any nails – unusual for me and much appreciated.

The Wedding

I was up and out for 9am on the day of the wedding to paint the bride’s nails – a nerve-wracking experience given I’m still a novice and this is only the biggest day of her life!!

She was already up and running round with excitement, but still so calm and radiant even in her pjs 😀

The bride requested a little bride and groom on her ring fingers, and we decided together on lace for the rest of her nails.

For the dress nail, I started with one coat of OPI Sweet Heart. The dress was created using the striper from the White Nail Art Pen from WAH, and the veil using a dotter and Models Own Hypergel White Light.

For the groom’s suit, I painted two coats of White Light as a base. I used the striper from the Black Nail Art Pen from WAH to create the jacket; OPI Lady in Black and a dotting tool for the buttons; and a thin detail brush with more Lady in Black for the tiny bow tie (I was holding my breath for that one!)

The rest of the nails used one coat of Sweet Heart as a base, and MoYou Bridal 06 for the lace, stamped with OPI Alpine Snow. From my practises earlier in the week, I found that White Light was a bit inconsistent with the stamping, but I still had some slightly gloopy Alpine Snow left – perfect for stamping.

There were a few mistakes along the way but we got there in the end, and the bride was happy which was the main thing! She often says she doesn’t like her nails as they are very little, but she had lots of compliments on the day which was just what I wanted for her 🙂

A beautiful day for a beautiful couple – wishing you a long and happy life together xxxx
